The TTC swim program is aimed at helping participants develop a strong, efficient, stroke then add further fitness and power to the equation. The result is fitness, strength and speed.

Ample opportunity will be given for those more experienced swimmers to maximize their volume while new swimmers will only swim as much as they are comfortable with.

All participants will benefit from ongoing feedback from the coach.

While we welcome all levels, we do ask that you are able to swim 100m continuously before starting the program.  This is not a Learn-to-Swim program.  If you have any questions about your current fitness ability please contact Training@torontotriathlonclub.org

New to triathlon and not sure where to begin?

This swim program is the perfect place to start.  The aim is to build a foundation for new swimmers to continue their swimming journey. Small group so that you can receive lots of personal feedback.

Over the course of four weeks we'll be going over the fundamentals of freestyle swimming.  Pulling, kicking, breathing, body position and more will all be covered. Everything you need to get started with your swim training.

Requirements: no minimum ability to join, just be ready and willing to give things a try! Strongly recommend swimmers bring a pair of swim fins - beg, borrow or steal them (just kidding - look on Amazon or try Splashables in Etobicoke, where TTC members receive a 20% discount).

    Coach: Nic van Beurden

    Dates: May 2, 9, 16, 23

Our kick off ride of the season, Tour De Toronto is great for riders of all skill levels!

Join us on Saturday May 11th to kickstart the regular outdoor ride program.

New to the city or new to the club? Come and join fellow club mates for a social, no-drop and non-intimidating ride out from Willet Creek Park on Don Trail northbound, out and back.  This is a mostly multi use path ride, with some short road crossings, and a couple low traffic connector roads (< 2km).  We will be riding up toward Betty Sutherland Trail, and return back to Willet Creek.

Meeting point in Google is called: Parking Lot #2 Willet Creek Park: https://goo.gl/maps/au3WBV9z4AHwM3dq9 It’s the parking lot on the Don Trail under Eglinton and Leslie.

Option to join us for a 45 mins bike skills clinic prior to the group ride. Need to brush up on your bike skills after rising indoors all winter? Join us at 8:00am to check over your bike and refresh your handling skills.

Break for 15mins, gather up and get ready for Tour de Toronto with departure at 9am.

    Garmin Connect Route: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/158761140

    Map My Ride Route: https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/5516147311

There will be a Starbucks Coffee Stop at approx 27km, on the way back, at York Mills right on the route.

For those who are interested, we may also take a detour following the main ride across Eglinton to Enduro Sport, just west of Eglinton and Laird.  This will be 100% optional and will be after we get back to parking lot.

This event is free for TTC members, but please register online to reserve a position in the peloton.  Choose either the Tour alone or the Tour & Clinic if you would like to take advantage of the refresher!

This event is also open to non-TTC members (for a fee), so bring along a friend if you want to introduce them to the club (waivers to be completed in advance)

You may contact training@torontotriathlonclub.org if you have any questions about the event.

Ride leaves at 9:00am, so be there for 8:45am. Please check your email on the morning of the ride regarding notice of cancellation in the event of weather.

What people are saying from previous years:

“When I signed up for the TTC camp, initially the draw was Collingwood. Who doesn’t want to train on those scenic country roads. But what I experienced surpassed my expectations. The accommodation and routes were fantastic, the camaraderie uplifting and I came away with a solid weekend of training under my belt and new friends. Great value.”

    About the accommodations:

    1. Camp only.  For those with accommodation in Collingwood or those that prefer to find their own accommodations, this is a great option.  All activities and events are included and the daily meeting and end spot will always be at the chalets close to the Blue Mountain Village.

    2. The Chalet experience:  We have 4 almost identical chalets across the road from Blue Mountain Village. Each chalet has a complete kitchen, 3 full bathrooms, 1 half bath, a hot tub, a steam bath, 2 gas fireplaces and a washer/dryer. The chalet is equipped with cable tv, DVD/VCR, high speed internet as well. You will provide your own food (self-cook) - meals are not included in the camp.

    Each Chalet has:

3 Bedrooms with 1 queen bed (sleeps 2)
2 bedrooms with 3 beds - Triple Room (some bunks)

When booking the Queen rooms and if you will be sharing, one person will register and pay for the full room and your roommate will register for "Camp Only (shared queen room)"  (if they are participating in the camp). Email us to let us know to add your roommate to the room list. They will need to email us for the registration code.

*You must be a current 2024 TTC member to participate in any training-related activities of the camp.

    Refund Policy:

Refunds can be issued up until April 15th, 2024 (one month prior to the event), less 25% deposit fee.

    After April 15th, no refunds.

Swim Bike Run: Elevate your triathlon game in just one day!

Our full day triathlon skills camp is a comprehensive training day designed for newer athletes who are looking to enhance their triathlon skills and abilities, or seasoned members looking to improve their times.  This camp provides a unique opportunity for triathletes to come together to learn from each other and train under the guidance of experienced coaches.

The day begins with a brief welcome and overview of the days objectives.   We will then divide the day into small components to better focus on each aspect of triathlon.

In the swimming session we will breakdown the common fear with open water swimming and participants will learn techniques such as proper breathing, body positioning.  We will focus on open water swim skills such as sighting, drafting turning and navigating through a crowd.  A wetsuit is strongly recommended.

During the bike session participants are coached on bike handing skills including mounting, dismounting, cornering, and will receive instruction on gear selection, hill climbing and descending.

We will break for lunch and hear about nutrition for triathletes as well as demystifying and understanding transition.  Participants will have an opportunity to practice transition skills as well.

The running session will talk about basic form and mechanics as well as pacing strategies, and activation exercises to prevent injury.

Throughout the day there will be breaks and opportunities for participants to ask questions and receive feedback.  At the end of the day there will be a group Q & A session to address any outstanding questions on programming, races, injuries, and future training.

Overall this full-day triathlon skills camp is an excellent opportunity for triathletes to improve their triathlon knowledge, tri skills, meet other athletes, receive expert coaching and guidance.

    Fee:

    $115 (for TTC members)

    $130 (for non members)

Coaches: Tara Postnikoff  & Eric D'Arcy

8-week basic level training plan and corresponding weekly ZOOM call sessions geared towards “New to Triathlon” (or “haven’t raced in a long time”). The program will get you ready to take on a Try-A-Tri or Sprint triathlon.

Target race(s) for the Sprint distance would be the Toronto Triathlon Festival (TTF) or potentially other races (such as IronGirl in Grimsby in early August).

The intent of this clinic is to educate, motivate and provide opportunities and access to a “group coach” and provide athletes with the tools and confidence to achieve their goals of successfully completing their upcoming triathlon.

    • Significant learning opportunity – the better you are prepared, the higher the likelihood of success
    • Cost effective – significantly less costly than having a 1-1 coach
    • Opportunity to ask questions directly – weekly zoom calls
    • Build confidence prior to race day / alleviate some of the pre-race jitters
    • Learn some of the Triathlon Ontario key rules to avoid penalties e.g. drafting, helmet rules, etc.
    • Will cover subjects on swim, bike, run, nutrition, and much more
    • Know what to do when things don’t go the way as planned on race day
    • Provide a general 8 week training plan for Sprint Distance triathlon (with appropriate modifications for “try-a-tri” distance)
    • Issued in 4 week blocks
    • Available on Training Peaks via special link (provided prior to clinic)
    • Aimed at the above listed races but could be used for later races if desired
    • Facilitated weekly ZOOM calls for 30-45 minutes consisting of the following:
      • Structured weekly topics (see attached for details)
      • Presentation format via ZOOM to educate and enable increased knowledge plus ample time for questions
      • May also include some live demos (e.g. how to change a tire)

Start date: Tuesday, May 28, 2024

End date: Tuesday, July 16, 2024

    Weekly ZOOM Call - 6:30 - 7:15pm

    Coach: Teresa Pitek
