Dates: November 10, November 24, December 8 from 3-5pm

Location: Harbord CI - 286 Harbord St. Toronto, On M6G 1G5

Description: Over the course of the three 2hr sessions, participants will focus on developing proper swim technique and skills so that they feel comfortable joining an adult swim team or triathlon team or are ready to swim train on their own.

We will also spend some time in each session chatting about various topics in triathlon.

- Nutrition in training and racing, specifically for females

- How to get started/getting the right gear. Emphasis on how women differ from men in what gear they need.

- Planning your training. How your cycle can effect training and race performance.

Why do it?: This clinic is a great opportunity for females to learn more about triathlon and what it is and how to get started in the sport. In addition to that, we focus on developing the swim, a barrier for many who want to begin the sport.

Details: The first session will start with a talk about nutrition in training and racing, specifically for females. We will then move on to talk proper body position and how to achieve it. The in water session will start with a swim video of every swimmer. We will spend the final time in the session working on drills to improve body position and buoyancy.

The second session will build on the first session. The first 30 minutes will be a talk about how to get started in triathlon. We will then watch our swim videos and spend some time focused on the areas that need the most improvement. Swimmers will be introduced to more swim drills and swim skills.

The third session will build on the second session. The first 30 minutes will talk about how to train properly for triathlon and some injury prevention tips. There will also be a recap of previous session. The remaining time will focus on developing better propulsion and open water specific skills, with time at the end spent capturing a final underwater video of each swimmer. .

A minimum of 10 participants are needed in order for this program to run. Spots are limited to 20 and each participant will receive a video of their stroke at the beginning and end of the 3 part clinic.

Requirements: Bathing suit, goggles, swim cap, ability to complete at least 100m of swimming without stopping (even if it isn’t freestyle)

Coaches: Miranda Tomenson (all sessions) & Tara Postnikoff (session 1)

Please plan on arriving early to change.

Cancellations/Refunds/Credits:

Refunds will be given if we have to cancel the program due to not meeting minimum numbers. If cancelled due to weather, we will try to reschedule, but no refunds. We will credit those who can't attend the rescheduled event.
