Swim coaches Miranda Tomenson and Sam Johnson will be holding a 2-hour swim clinic from 2-4pm on Feb 24th for swimmers of all abilities (beginners to advanced) focused on perfecting swim technique. Swimmers must be able to swim 100m of the pool without stopping.

The goal of this clinic is to introduce beginner swimmers to proper swim technique and help more advanced swimmers who have plateaued in recent months or even years.

This clinic will feature a discussion by Coach Miranda Tomenson on the nature of swimming, its unique technical challenges and how athletes can expect to overcome those challenges. Participants will then jump in the pool for a multi-part session:

(1) A short group swim, to allow a chance for coaches to assess the group and the individual needs of each participant.

(2) The whole group will be broken into two groups: beginner and advanced. The beginner group will learn the basics of the freestyle stroke, with a focus on proper body position, kick efficiency and timing of the stroke. The advanced group will focus more on the pull and catch of the stroke, with an emphasis on proper hand entry, the high elbow catch and how to generate maximal propulsion from the kick.

(3) The advanced swimmers will also complete a timed 100 and 400m swim in order to determine their CSS and train more effectively.

As training for the spring starts to gear up, this a great chance to get a detailed analysis of the specifics of your stroke and things that you as an individual can do to improve. For advanced swimmers, it's a excellent opportunity to add some new skills and techniques to your toolbox that will allow you to start the season strong and train with a purpose. Moreover, it is a chance to ensure that you are training properly and at the correct speed.

Needed: appropriate swim wear, goggles and preferably a swim cap and a water bottle, warm clothes for deck.

Limit of 18 people.
