Want to know where all that cycling fitness and training has taken you this winter? Need to take an FTP test but hate doing them alone? Join your fellow team mates and Coach Eric, as we help you push towards a new FTP. We know that pushing and suffering with others gets better results, so come and suffer with others. Eric will coach you, offer advice as to when to push, when to hold back and motivate you and push hard for 20 minutes.
FTP – "Functional Threshold Power" – is the wattage you can stay sustain for a 40-60 minute duration in a race scenario. Your FTP is an indicator and baseline of your current fitness, and also helps create your zones for training, racing, and group rides.
The FTP test is an intense 20 minute piece of work and requires steady build, seated, give-it-your-all power. Remember it’s a benchmark, so as your fitness level increases so will your FTP.
We will be using the Zwift Short (20 minute) FTP test (approximately 45 minutes in duration with warm up and cool down). This workout can be done on any platform and with any type of trainer (non-smart trainer, smart trainer, power meter, no power meter, Zwift, Trainer Road, no software). If you don't have a power meter, getting your heart rate threshold has great value for your training as well.
