On Sunday, January 31st, the Toronto Triathlon Club will be hosting a clinic from 1-3pm to focus specifically on learning the fundamentals of how to flip turn.

Lead by Coach Eric Vanderbeek, this clinic will cover all of the basic mechanics for how to safely and effectively execute flip turns for lap swimming. This is an important skill for anyone who is hoping to increase their speed, aerobic endurance and confidence level in the pool.

The clinic will include a short talk by Coach Eric about the advantages of doing flip turns, not just for lap swimming and training, but for open water endurance athletes as well.

Once everyone is in the pool, Eric will go over how to safely approach the wall at speed, how to maintain your spatial awareness during the actual flip part of the turn and how to push off on your back underwater once the turn is completed.

Participants must be able to swim 100 metres unassisted and without touching the bottom in a 25m pool. No pull buoys, fins or kick boards will be used during this clinic.

Needed: appropriate swim wear, goggles and preferably a swim cap and a water bottle, warm clothes for deck.

Limit of 18 people.
